Search peanut butter recall products

January 22, 2009

Before you bite into those energy bars, crackers, and candy made with peanut butter, you might want to check and make sure it’s not part of the product recall related to the salmonella outbreak.

The FDA has provided a website where you can search by product name or browse by product type.  Products are continuing to be added to the list, so you might want to check back occassionally.

According to the FDA, “Major national brands of jarred peanut butter are not affected by the PCA recall.  PCA does not sell peanut butter directly to consumers.  PCA only sells peanut butter to institutions and food manufacturers (some of which use it as an ingredient in other processed/packaged foods). Some food manufacturers use PCA peanut butter or peanut paste in baked or processed foods, such as crackers, cookies, cakes or ice cream to name a few. “

Welcome to Spring ‘09!

January 20, 2009

The CAC Library would like to welcome everyone in the CAC community – students, faculty, and staff – to our spring semester!

The new year is already off to a historic start.  While many of us hoped it would happen someday, it’s still hard to believe it’s a reality.  Whether we watched from our tv’s or our mobile devices, we witnessed a moment that I’m sure we will talk about for years to come.  That’s right… the Arizona Cardinals won the NFC Championship game and are on their way to the Super Bowl!

Students – as your classes get underway this semester, if you hit any roadblocks on the way to finals, just remember what the Cards managed to accomplish this year.  If they can do it, so can you.

Have a great semester everyone!

Carpool to SMC Campus? Enter to win a prize!

January 7, 2009

We’d like to introduce you to the SMC Campus Travel Reduction Program.

Travel reduction can help control air pollution which can aggravate respiratory problems, such as asthma and allergies in children and adults.  Also, the cost of fuel continues to be unpredictable. Telecommuting, ridesharing, walking and biking are great money saving alternatives and help improve our air quality!

On the SMC Campus, if you register a carpool with Julie O’Neil, the SMC Travel Coordinator, you can enter a monthly drawing for prizes sponsored by the Pinal County Travel Reduction Program.

2009 drawing dates are:

Jan.9th

Feb.6th

Mar. 6th

Apr. 10

May 8th

June 5th

If you are on the SMC Campus, and are interested in starting or joining a carpool, please visit the SMC Travel Coordinator, Julie O’Neil in the SMC Library or call (480) 677-7730.

For more information, visit the CAC Home Page, www.centralaz.edu, and in the left column under “About Central”, scroll down to “Travel Reduction Program”, at  www.centralaz.edu/Home/About_Central/Travel_Reduction_Program.htm
